Regular travel, irregular circumstances

I prefer traveling in train over bus and car, for it has washroom in it. I usually travel in train. Traveling in train ๐Ÿš‰ has become a routine for me. Everything is pre-planned. I plan every minute as to how I spend my time. If it's night journey not much planning is needed. Just food, bedsheet and pillow. If it's a day journey, elaborate planning is needed to make the most out of the Journey. If going to new places plan is simple, Lookout the window for beautiful unexplored places, capture pictures, Share photos on social media and talk to co-passengers. While traveling to familiar places it becomes monotonous. Hence, detailed planning is required. Plan is set in motion on the basis of number of hours ⏳ to travel. Binge watching, listening to music, reading a book ๐Ÿ“™ or writing the blog. If the Journey is long, say for 2 days all of the above activities can be accommodated. I was traveling from my native to Bangalore. Since the Journey was familiar. I had planned on binge wat

Favorite Movies

I have been thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ what makes us ' like ' a movie or How does a movie become our " favorite " movie? There could be N number of factors. Let's discover it through analysing my favorite movies and why do I like is so much. There are so many Movies on IMDB that have got 8+ ratings. Can I call a movie with highest rating to be my favorite movie? ๐Ÿ˜… No, certainly not. I have deviced a criteria to decide on my favorite movie. You can use this criteria as well to decide on your favorite movie. Criteria is simple. Any movie that compels me to watch it repeatedly becomes my favorite movie. What compels me to watch a movie repeatedly? The story line, Songs, background score, my confirmation bias and relatability of the movie with my current situation. Before we begin, let me tell you the kind of movie I enjoy watching. I like the movies that makes a social impact, lives  deep impression on mind, forces me to think about it for days and movies that have real life pra

Plight of Ordinary People

Everyone is going though a tough time. Things have changed a lot. COVID-19 has changed our world upside down ๐Ÿ™ƒ. More so for the people of lower strata of Income. Many stories to be told. Of those stories some  really moved me ๐Ÿฅบ. Sharing 4 such stories that I recently came across. 1. Story of a clerk   A man appeared at my home. He was in is his 50's, he had worn white formal clothes. My dad knew him. Invited him inside. Ordered me to get some snacks and Tea ๐Ÿต. I went and told the same inside in Kitchen. I sensed an unspoken curiosity in everyone's face at home. The man kept on talking to dad. He was telling everything. How he worked in Gulf  all these years, kept sending money to India, build a house and purchased small plots. Retired last year and returned to India. For the Lifestyle we had, retirement money didn't even last a year. Now our lively hood depends entirely on income we earn from printer ๐Ÿ–จ  and printing work I do from home. He then asked my dad to lend him

TRAIN A FREEDOM SYMBOL

Parents are usually very protective about their child, especially those parents who believe in ‘Hum Do Hamare Doh'. I was one such child. My parents nurtured me in very protective environment. I can compare my life with that of Siddhartha (Gautama Buddha). Just like Siddhartha's father, my father nurtured me in captive environment. Within the Comforts (limits) of our little palace (home). I don’t remember going out alone, not without my parents. They were too busy with work and therefore, rarely there was any family outing.  A strong desire started emerging within me to travel and to explore the world. I was like the frog in a small pond. Unaware of seas & the bigger Oceans. Too afraid to explore and to fragile to be free. My father loosened my leash bit by bit. Finally, their came a time, when I was supposed to go out of pond (village) and move to sea (city).   My first travel alone was in train. Ever since train appears to me as a symbol of freedom. My dream was

The Big Knock Theory

Oh! For those of you who by reading title, thinking I'm going to talk about some science stuff, take deep sigh of relief. There won't be any science stuff here. This post will give you the glimpse of 4 characters. Their story somewhat runs parallel to popular US sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory', but with Indian Tadka. Without wasting anymore time. Lets get started. Character No.1 Syndicate Prince It is he, who introduced me into the room. It's funny how he got the name ‘ Syndicate Prince' . In room, we usually gossip about random stuff. Once I asked him. Which bank do you have your account? He replied I've all my accounts in Syndicate bank. Out of curiosity, I asked Why Syndicate bank. He swiftly replied Syndicate bank is like my home. I've seen many loyal bank customer but non this loyal. There was something amiss๐Ÿ™„ somewhere. I further asked him. What does he exactly mean by that? He explained his father is bank manager of syndicate bank. There

Smile in Smog

I have always read and heard about air pollution in Delhi. Finally, when I experienced it, I’ve to admit it’s nothing like they describe in news. It’s much worse. Sometimes too terrible. Initially firecrackers was to blame for think blanket of smog in Delhi. However this year crackers were banned. Authorities now realized that it’s not just because of crackers. The real culprit turned out to be burning of Hay in neighboring states (Haryana, Punjab and UP). For days, smog was clearly visible even during daytime. Holidays were announced for Schools and colleges. People were advised to stay indoors and not to do any physical work (Yoga, meditation, exercise, jogging and Outdoor games). Almost every other person was seen wearing mask while outdoors.  Drastic steps were taken to improve air quality. Construction work was stopped, heavy vehicles were restricted from entering Delhi and lastly burning of any kind of waste was strictly monitored. There was also discussion on implementin

Being Selfish

Readers who read my blogs have an impression of me being virtuous man. It’s not entirely true. As a person, I am selfish and care about myself more than any. I don’t think there is anything wrong in it and I won’t shy away from admitting it. Humans are inherently selfish. Abraham Lincoln once said every human put his self-interest into consideration in whatever he does. I couldn’t agree more! Indeed, he is right. When I do something for someone, I expect those around me to reciprocate or at least appreciate. Just for appreciation, I do benevolent things, which I will not do otherwise. In my previous blog, I’m mentioned about trip to Goa ( http://21stcenturyindianthinking2.blogspot.in/2017/05/smile-in-train.html ). Here is one such incidence from Goa, where I did something complete out of self-interest, but outcome turned out to be different.          As you all know I’ve a track record of being late (mentioned it in one of the earlier blog http://21stcenturyindianthinking
