Regular travel, irregular circumstances

I prefer traveling in train over bus and car, for it has washroom in it. I usually travel in train. Traveling in train 🚉 has become a routine for me. Everything is pre-planned. I plan every minute as to how I spend my time. If it's night journey not much planning is needed. Just food, bedsheet and pillow. If it's a day journey, elaborate planning is needed to make the most out of the Journey. If going to new places plan is simple, Lookout the window for beautiful unexplored places, capture pictures, Share photos on social media and talk to co-passengers. While traveling to familiar places it becomes monotonous. Hence, detailed planning is required. Plan is set in motion on the basis of number of hours ⏳ to travel. Binge watching, listening to music, reading a book 📙 or writing the blog. If the Journey is long, say for 2 days all of the above activities can be accommodated. I was traveling from my native to Bangalore. Since the Journey was familiar. I had planned on binge wat...

TRAIN A FREEDOM SYMBOL

Parents are usually very protective about their child, especially those parents who believe in ‘Hum Do Hamare Doh'. I was one such child. My parents nurtured me in very protective environment. I can compare my life with that of Siddhartha (Gautama Buddha). Just like Siddhartha's father, my father nurtured me in captive environment. Within the Comforts (limits) of our little palace (home). I don’t remember going out alone, not without my parents. They were too busy with work and therefore, rarely there was any family outing.  A strong desire started emerging within me to travel and to explore the world. I was like the frog in a small pond. Unaware of seas & the bigger Oceans. Too afraid to explore and to fragile to be free. My father loosened my leash bit by bit. Finally, their came a time, when I was supposed to go out of pond (village) and move to sea (city).   My first travel alone was in train. Ever since train appears to me as a symbol of freedom. My dream was...

Smile in Smog

I have always read and heard about air pollution in Delhi. Finally, when I experienced it, I’ve to admit it’s nothing like they describe in news. It’s much worse. Sometimes too terrible. Initially firecrackers was to blame for think blanket of smog in Delhi. However this year crackers were banned. Authorities now realized that it’s not just because of crackers. The real culprit turned out to be burning of Hay in neighboring states (Haryana, Punjab and UP). For days, smog was clearly visible even during daytime. Holidays were announced for Schools and colleges. People were advised to stay indoors and not to do any physical work (Yoga, meditation, exercise, jogging and Outdoor games). Almost every other person was seen wearing mask while outdoors.  Drastic steps were taken to improve air quality. Construction work was stopped, heavy vehicles were restricted from entering Delhi and lastly burning of any kind of waste was strictly monitored. There was also discussion on impleme...

Being Selfish

Readers who read my blogs have an impression of me being virtuous man. It’s not entirely true. As a person, I am selfish and care about myself more than any. I don’t think there is anything wrong in it and I won’t shy away from admitting it. Humans are inherently selfish. Abraham Lincoln once said every human put his self-interest into consideration in whatever he does. I couldn’t agree more! Indeed, he is right. When I do something for someone, I expect those around me to reciprocate or at least appreciate. Just for appreciation, I do benevolent things, which I will not do otherwise. In my previous blog, I’m mentioned about trip to Goa ( http://21stcenturyindianthinking2.blogspot.in/2017/05/smile-in-train.html ). Here is one such incidence from Goa, where I did something complete out of self-interest, but outcome turned out to be different.          As you all know I’ve a track record of being late (mentioned it in one of the earlier blog http://2...

BUCKET LIST INDIA

Who doesn’t like to travel, most of us dreamt of roaming around the world. Most will have a list of their own. I too have a list, bucket list to be precise, I want to visit these places put a tick mark on the list, fill the bucket with the list and kick the bucket. For now, my bucket list  is quite simple. The World is a book and those who do not travel read only one page. I want to read as many pages as possible and my first chapter will be on Discovery of India. Therefore, I’ve confined my list mostly within India so that it will be easily achievable. The idea of creating bucket list knocked my head from “Ek Villian” movie. However, the places that made into my bucket list are not just inspired from movies, but also from books, history and religion. Do you’ve a bucket list of your own? If not, do make one. It gives more meaning to your life. Most people keep their bucket list secret. But I’m sharing my bucket list in hope of companionship. Here are the Top Ten 1.  ...

JOY OF DONATING

Humans can help each other in a way other animals can’t, that’s what makes us human.Yet, humans are most ungrateful and unsatisfied creatures. Humans are by nature greedy. It’s this greed that harms us the most.   Have you ever wondered why are we not satisfied with what we have? Lean ones are unhappy, fat ones are unhappy, pretty ones are unhappy, handsome ones are also unhappy. That makes it a lot many unhappy individuals. They are unhappy mainly because they compare themselves with others. The moment they stop comparing, will be their happiest moment.            That’s not it, even if you stop comparing, people around you will not stop. Hey, look at that fatty over there! How does he even walk with such huge body or OMG! Look at that fellow! He will definitely be blown away with wind. I belong to the latter category. Have you ever experienced any such comments?  I’ve got many such comments. To tackle such situation...

Peace of mind is very important for every individual. Don’t worry I’m not gonna talk of peace of mind that Sadhu’s and Rishi’s try to achieve by fasting and meditation. I was only talking of maintaining tranquility. How to you make peace with yourself? Frankly speaking, I don’t know of it yet. However, I do know how to keep peace of mind for short period.
